Deep Dive

Podcasts and Blogs are communication tools that enable listeners, viewers and readers to engage with longer form topics that typically highlight specific topics or areas. A podcast can be audio-only or audio with video. A blog is text-based and displayed like a web page. Both items should have a pre-determined distribution schedule.

How We Teach This
We talk with experts and educators about topics that can help you as an educator, a parent, and a person.

To begin a podcast, please complete the request form. This will begin a process to help you deliver a quality and meaningful program to your audience.

All podcasts are part of the Anchor service. Marketing + Communication can help with setting up your account.

To begin a blog, please work with your WebDAC to complete a WebDAC form. We will help you choose right modality for starting your blog.

One of the most important items to consider is the amount of time required to record and edit your podcast or write your blog posts. These must be done on a consistent, pre-planned schedule.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PODCASTS

• Content must be submitted in a timely manner and designed according to the specifications. Failure to do so could result in your event being denied.
   
• Hornet Announcements may only be posted once per week.
   
• Hornet TV posts can be posted for 2 weeks or as appropriate related to your content. For digital posters with dates, we will remove them after the event.
   
• Events can only be posted to the Hornet Events email digest the week of the event. Hornet Events cover events from Thursday through the following Wednesday.
   
• Any visual content must meet university branding guidelines.
   
• Unless granted prior approval, all posts must relate to events sponsored or hosted by Emporia State University.
   
• IT, Marketing and Media Relations, and CSI reserve the right to edit, pause, or cancel any item requested for promotion through this process.
   
• For subsequent posts of your event (ex. a follow up Hornet Announcement), you only need to complete the required fields in the form.
