You’re Enrolled – Now What?
1. Emails from ESU
You should begin to receive more emails from ESU as we move closer to the beginning of the fall semester.
Check your ESU email frequently to avoid missing something important.
2. Canvas
Canvas is your class information portal. Find class syllabuses, assignment information, discussion boards and class grades.
If you want to earn a digital microcredential badge, complete the tutorial below.
3. Technology Information
If you are thinking about purchasing a new computer or want to know about free technology information and resources at ESU, visit the IT for students page.
4. Tuberculosis Risk Screen
All new students entering ESU must be screened for tuberculosis risk. We have four quick questions for you to answer.
Log in to the Patient Portal.
Select:
- Authenticate with your date of birth
- Forms link
- Tuberculosis Risk Form
- Answer 4 questions
- Submit
5. ID Picture
For those living on-campus, you need your Hornet ID card to enter the residence halls. Hornet IDs are also used for building access, food purchases, entrance to events and more.
6. Financial Aid & Scholarship Status
To check on the status of your financial aid go to Hornet 365 and click on:
- Students
- View Financial Aid Center
- My Financial Aid
- Award Offer
7. Terms and Conditions
If you accept Federal Student Loans, please be sure to accept the ESU Terms and Conditions.
Go to Hornet 365
Click on:
- Students
- Financial Center
- My Financial Aid
- Home/Award Offer
8. Housing Information
Make sure to fill out all housing forms, including Housing Requests, Housing Application and Room/Roommate Information.
Go to Hornet 365
Select:
- Students
- ResLife Portal (Under All Students Services)
9. Transcripts
Send your official final high school transcripts, as well as official transcripts for any college credit(s) you earned before coming to ESU. This will include dual credit, which should come from the college through which you took your courses.
All transcripts should come from directly from the school to ESU. If sending electronic transcripts, have them sent to transcript@emporia.edu.
10. Bill Pay/Cashiering
To check on your student account balance go to Hornet 365 and click on:
- Students
- View Financial Center
- Student Account Center
- View Activity or Make Payment
12. EAB Navigate
Check your class schedule, contact your academic advisor and make appointments, track events, see your holds and more with the EAB student app! Download the app on your phone and log in using your ESU Hornet Login.

Make sure you are receiving texts from ESU
If you are not receiving texts from your advisor, we need to update your cell phone number. It is also good to make sure your address is updated, too.
Update your Address
- Students

- Authorized Users
Set up an Authorized User regarding Bill Payments
If you want the Business Office staff to talk to someone other than you about your student account details (your bill), give them permission by setting them up as an Authorized User. Will someone be making payments for you? Get them setup! (Bills are posted.)
Go to Hornet 365 and select:
- Students
- Proxy Access For Students (out of one of the black and gold icons)
- Login for Grades, Schedules, and Financial Aid
- Proxy Management
- Add Proxy
- Complete the required information and click Add Proxy button
- Expand (your parent/guardian/s name)
- Complete all fields (Read instructions carefully)
- On the Authorization Tab, select which area you wish to grant them permission
Set up Proxy Access regarding Financial Aid
If you want financial aid staff to be able to talk to someone other than you about your financial aid, give them permissions by setting up Proxy Access. Proxy Access can also give permission to view your class schedule and grades.
Go to Hornet 365 and select:
- Students
- View Financial Center
- Student Account Center
- ELectronic Refunds
Setup Direct Deposit for any refund
Set up Direct Deposit for any refund that you may receive for fastest receipt of the money.
Go to Hornet 365 and select:
- Students
- Handshake
- Click on the Emporia State University Career Center banner in the middle of the page
