INSURANCE

Overview –

  • Health insurance coverage is mandatory for all international students enrolled in at least one in-person course during any semester, including summer.
  • You will automatically be enrolled in the United Healthcare Insurance Plan. Charges will be applied to your student account at the beginning of every semester.
  • If you are studying online only, you will not be enrolled in, nor charged, for the insurance plan. 


Insurance Enrollment Manager: ECI Services  –

ECI is a third-party insurance enrollment manager. If you are enrolled in an in-person course, they will contact you before each semester with information about insurance enrollment, the requirements, and the waiver process. You can reach ECI during normal work hours by phone at 833-249-0574 or by email at esu.waive@eciservices.com. 


Insurance Costs –

The insurance Premium is as follows: 

Fall 2026: $1,144; Spring 2027: $1,144; Summer 2027: $459


Students awarded Graduate Assistantships are responsible for 25% of the regular insurance cost while the other 75% is covered by the Assistantship. 


Plan Benefits –

Details about the international student insurance plan may be accessed through the United Healthcare Student Resources site by typing “Emporia State University” into the search box then navigating to Medical > International > Student Plan. 


Insurance Card -

To access your insurance identification card, log in to your UHCSR My Account and select the ID card link to see a digital version. You may download or email your ID card from My Account.

How do I set up My Account?  

You can create your My Account by selecting Log in to My Account from the home page. You must be enrolled in one of the plans before you can create an account.

Note: Depending on how your enrollment is submitted, your coverage may still be in process. Please check back later if you believe you should be covered under one of the plans but are unable to create your account. 


How do I get my insurance card? 

Log in to  My Account  and select the ID card link to see a digital version. You can download or email your ID card from My Account or UHCSR Mobile App. If you want an actual card, you can request one from My Account.

Are dental and vision coverage included in my health insurance coverage? 

No. Refer to your Student Insurance Plan brochure (available on your school's  Student Insurance  plan page and in your  My Account). It has a list of eligible benefits. It also has a list of things that are not covered in the Exclusions and Limitations section of the brochure. If you would like to ask questions or need information not provided in the Student Insurance Plan brochure, call the Customer Service number in your student insurance brochure or on your ID card. 


What should I do if I do not feel well or was involved in an accident that resulted in a personal injury? 

If you feel your injury or sickness is life threatening, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.  If it is not life-threatening, visit the Student Wellness Center. If the Student Wellness Center is closed and it is urgent, but not an emergency, you can try Express Care at Newman Regional Health.
